Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a plea for help for Ty . In 2021, while incarcerated, Tyshawn was shot in the head with a rubber bullet. Tased all over his body and almost was stomped to his death . Six months later, he began experiencing troubling symptoms, such as dropping objects and losing grip strength. After undergoing numerous tests, Tyshawn was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a devastating and terminal neurodegenerative disease.

ALS has taken a severe toll on Tyshawn over the past four years. He has lost his ability to speak, use his hands, and can barely walk without assistance. He is now dependent on a feeding tube due to the weakening of muscles involved in swallowing and breathing. As his condition progresses, Tyshawn is facing a tracheotomy / ventilator surgery to improve his quality of life, and he urgently needs an in-home nurse for daily care.

We believe that Tyshawn’s initial injury could have been prevented if not for the negligence of the prison authorities. To hold the prison accountable and seek justice for Tyshawn, we need to secure legal representation. Unfortunately, the cost of hiring a lawyer is beyond our current means.
