My son Ty had his e-bike stolen this weekend, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Just a few months ago, Ty was declared legally blind from a disease he’s been bravely fighting for years. The disease has stolen most of his eyesight. He can no longer drive and had to surrender his driver’s license. His e-bike was the only reliable way he could still get himself to work and keep helping his family.

Ty and his wife have 3 small children who depend on them. On top of the responsibility of raising them, he has to get expensive injections in his eyes every six weeks just to slow the disease and keep from going completely blind. Those treatments are costly, and now he’s suddenly facing the unexpected expense of replacing the bike that gave him his independence.

This theft has left him feeling helpless at a time when he already has so much stacked against him. Ty would never ask anyone for help himself — he’s too proud and too focused on taking care of his family. But those of us who love him can’t stand by and watch him struggle alone. We know so many people want to help but don’t know how.
