My name is Tyree, and I’m a speech-language pathologist who has always loved helping others find their voice. Before I became sick, I lived an active, fulfilling life. I was able to go on walks, practice yoga, and spend time with friends. I found purpose in my work and joy in being able to move, connect, and explore freely.
Sadly, in the summer and fall of 2023 I was exposed to toxic chemicals through a hazardous leak and in December of 2023, I was diagnosed with a multitude of disorders including POTS and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome which is an Immunological Disorder that causes inflammation in the body and creates lung damage, plus Bronchitis Obliterans (lung damage).
Then in June 2024, I was diagnosed with functional neurological disorder (FND), and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome which is an autonomic dysfunction that affects my heart rate, blood pressure, and makes it difficult to stand and walk. Because of this, I experience tremors, seizures, fainting, and severe nerve pain that can be completely incapacitating. The chronic inflammation has also weakened my connective tissue, leading to painful joint dislocations and constant intense pain which has left me bedridden when I have flare-ups.
Because of this I had to stop working my dream job as a speech pathologist to focus on my health. Since then, I have also had to use a cane to help maintain my balance when I walk and to prevent falling. Unfortunately, my health continues to deteriorate instead of improving and in December of 2025 I was diagnosed with Chronic Respiratory Failure which means my lungs are giving out and I don’t get enough oxygen, so I am now having to use an oxygen machine. The Doctors tell me I need a lung transplant, but I do not currently qualify because my immune system is so low.
Currently, I attend at least 9 medical appointments per week, plus 4 to 6 hours of infusions 4 times per week where they give me medication for the pain and to alleviate the environmental intolerances.
Since becoming sick I have started attending Church and am involved with my Church community. I was able to connect with a Doctor who referred me to a specialist detailing 8 weeks of treatment at about $15,000 per treatment.
Doctors are still uncovering exactly what’s happening in my body and how to best help me heal. We’re doing everything we can, but many of the treatments I need aren’t covered by insurance.
Donations will go toward life-saving care and essential needs, including:
• Medical bills and insurance
• Medications and specialized treatments
• Daily living expenses and household bills
• Critical interventions to stabilize and improve my condition, and prevent further decline.
Here is an example of some of the costs of current medical treatments:
• Immuno-supportive treatments, low Dose Immunotherapy Consultation $ 1500, plus $1000 per hour
• 1 Round of syringes for immunotherapy is $200-250 (I need 10 or more)
• I was told would need bare minimum 100 rounds or more for different tolerance to things (I most likely need more because I’m severely)
• Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO) ($1400 per treatment, 12 treatments needed)
• Neurologic Treatments including injections for spastic muscles and nerve pain and Neuro therapy ($6,000 per year)
• Xolair, a biologic shot I get twice per month $5000 each (not covered by insurance). In 2024, I went to ER for Emergency 11 times in 1 year before having this medication.
• Gum Surgery for 4 teeth at $3700 each (I was told by 3 dentists my teeth will fall out because I don’t have enough bone and my gums aren’t good from immune system.)
• Eye Surgery $3300 after insurance coverage
If you feel moved to help, please know that any amount — no matter how small — truly makes a difference. And if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing my story means the world to me.
I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I’m holding tightly to hope — hope that with the right care, I can heal, regain my strength, and one day give back the same kindness and compassion that others have shown me.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for believing in my recovery.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Tyree
