Support Tyne Jeanae's International Masters Degree

My name is Tyne Jeanae Dickson and however you stumbled across my GoFundMe, thanks for being here.

A year and a half ago after finishing my Americorps fellowship with Lead for America, I stumbled across this graduate program in my exit course. From then on, it has been all I could think of. It is the perfect alignment of material I actually wanted to research, my love of travelling to different cultures, and my dream to continue my education.

This 2025, I will set off to South Africa, Guatemala, and France to attain a Masters in Commmunity Organizing and Social Activism from IPSL & Westminster University. I will be studying public health in South Africa, midwifery and indigenous doulas in Guatemala, and urban planning in France as well as finally becoming fully fluent in French.

A little bit more about me: I am from Third Ward, Houston TX (and won't let you forget it). I graduated from SMU in Dallas with 2 degrees in Human Rights, and Theatre. Yes, you read that right. I am also an actor & director since I was 9 years old. While in college, I founded a team called BLM @ SMU, social justice app called Equity Ahead, and started working at wonderful non-profits around Dallas. I found my calling. After I graduated, I went straight into working at non-profits in Houston. I worked for incarcerated folks for 2 years, then became an organizer with Texas Organizing Project, and acted at a number of great theaters specifically focused on telling stories about and for women.

As you can see, I just love to serve community.

I love humans, I love making our society better, and I'm hopeful this Masters will allow me to continue that goal.
