My name is Jasper. My partner, Tymora, and I have been struggling both financially and mentally for a long time. I have been suffering through unemployment due to the currently very bleak job market, and multiple jobs I have had in the last couple of years were affected by store closures or restructuring, which caused myself and others to lose what little work we had. Tymora, thankfully, has been able to maintain a stable job and that sustained us JUST BARELY for a while, but due to the extenuating circumstances, we had to choose between putting off certain bills, skimping on food, neglecting car repairs, and taking on debt just to survive the day-to-day.

Ultimately, after three consecutive years of rent increases at our apartment, both Tymora and I have been forced into homelessness. It's been over two months since we lost our home, and we haven't seen each other a couple of times since then. We both were able to stay with friends for a few weeks, but were hours apart from each other, and I would be lying if I said the distance hasn't made the situation more difficult for both of us. Tymora, thankfully, will be able to stay where they are at for the foreseeable future. I, however no longer have a place to stay or sleep. I am very grateful to the friends who sacrificed so much by letting me stay with them, but I would be putting their livelihood at risk if I stayed any longer, and I cannot put any more of a burden on them. Currently, I can at most buy myself a night or two at a hotel.

That said, we need help. Tymora and I are both terrified. So much is uncertain right now, and we just need some support to get through all this until we are back on our feet. Tymora works so damn hard. She breaks her back to support herself, handle her debts, and be there for me as a partner. Every day, she fights. I have never known anyone stronger. But she can only do so much on her own. I am doing my absolute best to find stable work, interviewing wherever I can, and making it clear that I am willing to put in whatever effort necessary to succeed at a job. That's not always enough, though. Tymora needs security and stability. I need shelter and safety. I am so grateful that she will be safe for the time being. I don't know that I could handle worrying about that while not knowing where I will sleep or get my next meal.

And not to mention we have our cats to take care of. Erebus and Harley, our little fuzzy companions, have done nothing wrong and don't deserve to have their world turned upside down like it has been. They are so sweet and have provided both of us with such an immense amount of love and care that I don't think we would have survived to this point without them. They need help just as much as we do. So again, we are just asking for some support. We are going to go through as many local agencies as we can, but as I am sure many of you know, that requires dozens of phone calls, appointments, and screenings, many of which end in waitlists with no definite timeline for when help will be provided. So we are asking for aid from anyone else in the meantime.

We are looking to have help covering simple day-to-day things like food and essentials, as well as potential hotel stays when no other options are available. Additionally, we are looking into affordable housing for the two of us. So assistance with expenses like security deposits, first and last month's rent, application fees, etc., would greatly benefit us and make our transition smoother. I understand that we maybe shouldn't have waited so long to set up a campaign like this, but I am sure you can understand how difficult it can be to need help and be too afraid to ask for it. Being in a situation like this is embarrassing. And constantly hearing rejections or suffering setbacks is soul-crushing. We both refuse to give up, but hope is in short supply, and we are both so, so very tired. I want to show appreciation from the bottom of my heart to anyone who took the time to read this far.
