Support Tyler's Recovery from an Emergency Liver Transplant
Donation protected
In mid June Tyler's wisdom teeth began shifting, becoming impacted. On top of this they cracked one of their teeth putting them in a massive amount of pain over an extended period of time. On July 8th the pain became so unbearable that Tyler had to take multiple over the counter painkillers a day just to be able to speak and smile without wincing in pain. After a week of attempting to ease the pain with Tylenol and Ibueprofen Tyler began experiencing intense stomach pains that lead to nausea, vomiting, and a clamping sensation around their abdomen. On July 15th they were checked into St. Mary's Amita hospital, put on fluids, and had various tests and scans performed to try and figure out the source of pain and vomiting. By July 17th they were transferred to the UIC hospital ICU, and diagnosed with liver failure due to Tylenol poisoning. Despite the doctors and staffs best attempts to help their liver recover on its own, their levels continued to get worse and Tyler was sedated, intubated, and put on the top of the liver transplant list on July 20th.
Luckily, on July 22nd, Tyler received a liver, and after a successful surgery they are now recovering extremely well from the transplant. While things are looking up, Tyler's kidneys are still dormant, facing them with a long road of doctors visits, physical therapy, and extended kidney dialysis. With the already stacked medical expenses from the surgery and intensive medical care, the bills they will be accruing in the upcoming months of treatment, and their inability to work in this time due to physical constraints they will be lacking a source of income for 6 months minimum. Tyler's family and friends are doing all they can to help ease Tyler's financial burden and help them along their path to recovery. However, we simply can not do this alone, hence why we are asking for support in this sudden and extremely trying situation.
Anyone that's met Tyler knows they would give their last dollar to someone if it made them so much as smile. They are one of the most selfless, loving, and generous people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. They've impacted so many lives in such a positive way, this is why we feel confident asking for help from the vast network friends, coworkers, and anyone who cares about Tyler and their recovery.
The goal as of right now is $25,000 to solely compensate Tyler's income for the next 6 months and alleviate the stress of rent, bills, and groceries. Anything you can donate means the world to not only Tyler, but the many people that love and support them, and can't wait to see them back on their feet and healthy.
