On Monday, Tyler was taken to the ER and quickly admitted to the ICU, where doctors discovered he was suffering from severe liver failure. He was transferred to Integris Baptist, where an incredible transplant team is now overseeing his care. Tyler’s MELD score, which measures the urgency for a liver transplant, is extremely high. While his score has improved slightly, he is still in urgent need of a transplant. Before he can be considered, he must overcome several serious complications, including severe sepsis that has entered his bloodstream and a C. difficile infection. The doctors are working tirelessly to stabilize him, and there have been some positive signs—his white blood cell count is improving, and his kidneys have stabilized, so he no longer needs a kidney transplant. Still, the road ahead is uncertain. Tyler will have a liver biopsy soon, and the best-case scenario is that his infections clear up so he can come home and wait for a transplant. Otherwise, he may need to remain in the hospital until a donor organ becomes available. Through all of this, Tyler has shown incredible strength and determination, but he needs all the support he can get. I am deeply grateful for everyone who has prayed for him and reached out to offer help. As Tyler will be out of work for the foreseeable future, we are facing mounting bills, hospital expenses, and the costs of travel and medications. We are working to get his disability benefits started, but it will take time and won’t cover everything. Any support you can offer will help us cover essential bills, medical costs, and the expenses that come with Tyler’s care and recovery. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to our family.
