On August 17th, our 20-year-old son Tyler went to the doctor for abdominal bloating. Within hours, he was sent to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital for six days. On the fifth day, we learned that Tyler has autoimmune hepatitis, a condition that has silently attacked his liver for years. By the time we found out, he was already in end-stage liver disease, and just a week later, he was placed on the UNOS transplant list. The speed and seriousness of this diagnosis have left our family in shock, but we are grateful that there is a path forward for Tyler.

Tyler is a determined and unique young man. Ever since he was little, he dreamed of working on John Deere equipment, and earlier this summer, he made that dream a reality by completing a two-year program and starting full-time at a John Deere dealership. When he’s not working, Tyler enjoys playing video games, lifting weights with friends, fishing, and spending time with family. He’s always marched to the beat of his own drum and never worries about what other people think.

The next few weeks will be critical. Doctors expect Tyler will receive a transplant offer soon, and we’re preparing for a whirlwind of medical procedures, recovery, and uncertainty. We’re raising funds to help cover medical bills, prescription drug costs, lost wages during recovery, lodging near the hospital, insurance premiums, and any unexpected hospital stays. Tyler faces a long road ahead, but he’s shown incredible courage. Our family is doing our best to stay strong and hopeful, and any support will help us focus on Tyler’s health and recovery during this challenging time.
