My brother Tyler Cartan has been fighting Ulcerative colitis for the last few years. He's been in and out of the hospital from ulcers, weight loss, and severe bleeding all caused by this disease the entire time. This hospital stay was completely different. During this stay it was determined that his medication was no longer working and scheduled him for surgery to remove his lower intestines on 12/29/25. Unfortunately Sunday morning came and his bowel had perforated, basically meaning one of the ulcers had completely ruptured and was leaking into the rest of his body. So he was rushed into emergency surgery. According to the surgeon the diseased intestine they removed was falling apart in his hands when he removed it. Luckily even with all the complications the surgery went as good as the doctors could have hoped for. He is in recovery right now, but the fight is not over. Tyler is still facing the possibility of two more surgery's, and a lifetime of using a colostomy bag. As you can imagine this will be a massive adjustment for Tyler living with this new way of life. All these procedures and the adjustment to the colostomy bags have taken its tole physically and financially. Tyler has a loving wife, and an absolutely amazing son who have both been by his side the entire time. Tyler is always the first to help anyone in need and right now he needs everyone's help. If you can please donate anything you can to help it would mean the world to his family.
