Support Tyler's Healing Journey After Bike Accident
Spende geschützt
Last night was a living nightmare for a biker's wife. Tyler went down on his bike alone, states away from his family. He's an extremely experienced rider, so I know if he went down, things were really bad.
Tyler is stationed away from us in Washington state. His only mode of transportation is his bike up there, but he loves it. Riding isn't just a hobby for him, it's his life. He's a biker through and through. He was riding home and got caught in a rainstorm that caused a slick oil spot. His tail end fishtailed and lost traction on the metal grate along the bridge he was on inevitably took him down. His bike went down and he slid from the left lane all the way over to the right lane on the road where his body then stopped sliding. Thank God a few people saw the incident and stopped to help him get his bike out of the road, call 911, and get him safely out of harm's way until help got there. Tyler is part of a motorcycle club, so after he FaceTimed me to tell me he was alive, I immediately jumped into action networking with the club to get him help and support up there, which there was PLENTY of. Tyler was assisted heavily by his brothers in the club and his military buddy who secured his bike to a safe location, followed him to the hospital, and stayed ALL NIGHT until he was discharged and escorted him back to his base and up to his room. I will forever be grateful for the love and support they showed us while waiting for updates and helping ensure Tyler was cared for in the hospital and keeping me up to date with medical updates since it was hard getting info from the hospital.
Tyler had multiple scans including a CT, MRI, and multiple X-rays. His extensive amount of road rash was cleaned, his spine and neck were cleared for no injuries (thank God), but he did have some gnarly injuries. His elbow is fractured and will require further medical treatment; he is currently in a temporary splint situation. His elbow had a laceration that required stitching. His road rash ranges from both knees pretty bad, a very large portion of his belly, his back, and hips. His helmet shows that his head hit and slid on his face at some point but no concussion. He's got quite a lot of heavy deep bruising, but thankfully no life-threatening injuries.
Tyler was set to finally come home after months of being away to spend time with his family and new baby girl on Wednesday for his birthday, which is Friday.
The funds will go towards:
- Helping to cover my flight up to Washington and expenses (hotel/rental car) to help Tyler fly back down here so he isn't managing the airport and flight home alone.
- Medical supplies for bandage changes, pain management, and proper wound care at home.
- Replacing his helmet, boots, new vest, and ride gear that was destroyed in the accident. These items are costly, but I'm so thankful we did not skimp on them since they likely saved his life.
- Easy meals or transportation fees when Tyler returns to Washington after leave so he doesn't have to stress about cooking.
- Getting his motorcycle repaired since that bike is his baby and his only mode of transportation in Washington.
- Replacing his brand new phone that was destroyed in the accident.
I know times are tough for everyone right now, but even if you could just share this, that would be a massive help for us. I'm insanely grateful that my husband is alive. He is our rock and my best friend. He has a wife and four kids who need him and I'm so happy he's alive.
