This Go Fund me is one that is a true calling out for any and all donations and shares.

On August 18, 2012 a beautiful baby boy named Tyler was born to Danielle and Walter. At first everything appeared to be normal with him, but Danielle noticed he wasn’t eating properly and was sleeping so much. Once home, she knew something was wrong and was told by his pediatrician to bring Tyler immediately to the emergency room at Schneider’s Children’s Hospital. Throughout a long hospital stay, it was found that Tyler had a very rare genetic disorder known as Nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), also known as glycine encephalopathy, is a rare, inherited metabolic disorder characterized by a defect in the glycine cleavage system. This defect leads to a dangerous buildup of glycine in body tissues, especially the brain, causing severe neurological issues such as intractable seizures, lethargy, muscle weakness, and significant developmental delays.

NKH has meant that Tyler has never talked, sat up, walked, eaten any foods, played with friends, gone to school; he has not been able to do anything that any healthy child has been able to do. Instead he still needs to drink formula from a bottle, take multiple medications throughout the day, wear diapers, and visit various specialists often.

Tyler has been hospitalized multiple times throughout his life and luckily wasn’t hospitalized since 2020, until last month. He was first hospitalized on April 1, 2026 because he was not breathing properly. He was admitted into the PICU, where he was diagnosed with the flu and a pneumonia. Tyler needed the aide of a CPAP machine for his breathing and was placed on various medications. He had daily testing, including a MRI, which did not show anything of significance. Tyler went home, but was showing signs of severe shaking, in which he would cry out terribly due to severe pain. Tyler was even unable to sleep. He was readmitted into the hospital on April 22nd-April 26th. During that time, they removed some unhealthy teeth under anesthesia, hoping that would relieve his pain. Unfortunately it did not. Tyler has been at home, seeing various specialists who have had no real answers as to what is happening. Sadly his neurologist stated that perhaps Tyler’s condition has worsened and that perhaps he will be unable to return to the way he was prior to becoming sick in April. Prior to April, he was a boy who despite significant deficiencies would laugh, smile, and function as best as he possibly could. Sadly today, May 11th, Tyler was readmitted into the hospital, where additional testing will continue to take place and perhaps he will begin receiving palliative care.

This all comes as devastating news to his parents, Danielle and Walter, his three siblings Michael, Bryan, and Daniel, as well as the many family members and friends who just adore Tyler!

Prior to all of Tyler’s recent hospitalizations, his father Walter had a heart attack in November, which has kept him from working as a MTA bus driver. Due to the stress of Tyler’s condition, Walter’s recovery was affected and he was hospitalized again, which meant he would need to continue to stay out of work. Danielle and Walter have had to utilize credit cards in order to pay for their daily needs, while spending sleepless nights at the hospital, ordering in meals, driving back and forth between the hospital and home just to take a quick shower.

This family is truly in need of financial support, in addition to the loving support of their family and friends. If there is any way that you can donate to this family, it would be greatly appreciated! Danielle and Walter have never asked for any assistance over the course of the almost 14 years of raising Tyler, but now it has come to a time where they need to.
