Our family has been turned upside down by unexpected news. My husband, Tyler, was recently diagnosed with a large kidney tumor that is highly suspicious for kidney cancer. After weeks of unexplained nausea, fatigue, and other symptoms, doctors discovered a mass on his left kidney.

Tyler is now preparing for a major open radical nephrectomy, during which surgeons will remove his left kidney and left adrenal gland in an effort to remove all of the cancer. This is a major operation with a significant recovery period, but we're hopeful it will give him the best possible chance for a healthy future.

Tyler is a devoted husband and an incredible father to our two children, Odin and Olive. He is the kind of person who quietly shows up for the people he loves, and now it's our turn to help him through the biggest challenge of his life.

Because of the extent of the surgery, Tyler will be unable to work while he recovers. I'll be caring for him, supporting our children, and doing everything I can to keep our family moving forward. Like many families, we were already navigating financial challenges before this diagnosis, and this unexpected medical crisis has placed an enormous strain on us.
