Support Tyler Hernandez’s Battle Against Cancer

Update-
Tyler had to skip his last chemo treatment as he was having some complications that got worse with each treatment. Now that he is done with treatment he went in for a endoscopic ultrasound where they took a look at his esophagus and took some biopsies. We got some good news, the mass is gone and the biopsies came back negative! He has to get a PET Scan this week and then we will know for sure if it is 100% gone as there was a couple spots that they still need to check that they could not see during the endoscope. We are hopeful that there will be more good news! On the other hand, Tyler has to get another surgery next Friday the 24th where they are removing a fairly large amount of his esophagus to prevent the cancer from coming back since it is an aggressive form of cancer. He will be off work for at least another two months as long as everything goes how it should. If you are able and wanting to donate to help get him through these next couple months, we would be very grateful! Thank you!

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, Tyler went to have a surgery to do a hernia repair and fix the damage to his esophagus from the years he has struggled with Barrett’s Esophagus/Acid Reflux. During that surgery, they found a mass on his esophagus. After a few more appointments and tests, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Small Cell Esophageal Cancer. This type of cancer is very rare and aggressive, especially for his age. The doctors are hopeful that since he is young and healthy otherwise, that the outcome will be good. Tyler will be doing chemo and radiation over the next few months and then the doctors have planned to do another surgery mid January to remove that part of his esophagus. Between the treatments and surgery, we believe as long as everything goes well, the earliest Tyler can return to work will be March. Everyone who knows Tyler knows that being off of work is not an easy thing for him, as he has been so dedicated to building him and his brother’s tree service business and he has always been such a hard worker. Tyler has a huge heart and always tries his best to help others when he can so we are doing everything we can to help him now. We would appreciate any support you have to give whether that be donating, sharing the link, or words of encouragement. Thank you!
