My daughter, Kirsten Inman, has experienced a complicated pregnancy since week 17 when her water broke and her baby, Tye Inman, survived without amniotic fluid until week 28 when he was born weighing 1 lb. 10 oz. Tye has survived a pneumothorax, three bouts of pneumonia, and four unsuccessful extubation attempts to breathe through the nasal cannula due to bronchopulmonary dysplasia, tracheomalacia, and atelectasis.
In the next week, Tye will undergo surgery for a tracheotomy, feeding tube insertion into the stomach, and hernia repair.
My daughter Kirsten and her husband, Ben Inman, have been either in the hospital or by Tye’s side for over 10 months now and, at a minimum, are looking at three more months if there are no setbacks.
Tye is a fighter and has beaten all other odds of birth without developed lungs and three bouts of pneumonia with undeveloped lungs, all due to the prayers of family and friends and God’s blessings on Tye - truly a miracle baby!
