On May 16, 2020, 21-year-old Tye Anders was followed by a Midland PD officer without justification. Once Tye arrived at his destination- his 90-year-old grandmother’s home- he was held at gunpoint by multiple Midland PD officers without being alerted of any crime. In an attempt to allow officer’s to safely approach, Tye laid prone on the ground and showed that he was unarmed.
Tye’s 90-year-old grandmother seeing that he was still being threatened by the use of lethal force, came outside in an attempt to deescalate further, but was forced to the ground by overly aggressive Midland PD officers who were at the scene. Once Tye was put in handcuffs and placed in the back of the arresting officer’s squad car, he was assaulted by another officer- struck multiple times in the face.
Help us provide healing for Tye and his grandmother for the trauma they faced.
