Help My Family Stay Safe and Together – Emergency Fund for Japan Crisis

Hello, my name is Ty LeoKnight. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during an emergency. My wife, our three young children, and I recently moved to Japan in pursuit of a better life—but we’ve run into an unexpected and heartbreaking situation.

Due to the restrictions of our current visa, I’m legally not allowed to work or even apply for a job. We were unaware of how strict these limitations would be until we arrived. While we have just enough money left for food, we don’t have the funds to return to the U.S. if we’re forced to leave, and we currently have no family support to fall back on. If our situation doesn’t change soon, we may be facing homelessness in a foreign country.

I’m doing everything I can to apply for a change in visa status that would allow me to work and support my family here. However, the process takes time, and if we’re forced to leave before it’s approved, we would be deported—and possibly never allowed to return to the place we now call home.

This fund would help us in two critical ways:

1. If we must leave: it would cover the cost of plane tickets to return to the U.S. safely and help us secure temporary housing and food while I search for work.

2. If we are allowed to stay: the funds would support us while I legally transition my visa and find employment here.

Every dollar will go directly to keeping my family safe, housed, and fed during this uncertain time.
