Support Twisted Tea: A BIPOC Film Project

Dear wonderful supporters,

We are a group of student filmmakers in the Cinematic Arts and Production Club at UC Berkeley, hoping to find support and funding for our upcoming creative project.

Twisted Tea, written and directed by Yazmine Simone, follows a group of five college students looking to relax after their overwhelming midterm season. After indulging in a warm cup of psychedelic mushroom tea, the group stumbles upon what just might be the craziest night of their lives. Filled with excitement, comedy, betrayal, and even romance, Twisted Tea is bound to be an alluring film - and we’re asking you to help us bring it to life!

An important goal of our film is representation. Time and time again, BIPOC filmmakers, actors, and characters are pushed to the sidelines, given roles that lack depth and complexity. Our film does just the opposite, with our all-BIPOC leading friend group and a crew filled with both BIPOC individuals and allies. It’s time that these individuals are given the same character and filmmaking opportunities, and we intend that our film do just that.

With your support, we can make Twisted Tea happen. With a full budget breakdown below, we’ll use these funds for intricate sets, exciting props, intriguing costumes, much needed equipment, and, most importantly, to support the wellbeing of our cast/crew. All of the above will help us facilitate a fun, fulfilling atmosphere for our team of dedicated, creative, excited filmmaking students.

Twisted Tea will premiere at CAPfest on May 3rd, 2025. As mentioned, our budget breakdown is listed below to give you a clear idea of where your appreciated support will be going.
