Support Tupelo Honey's Extensive Recovery

Donation protected
Meet Tupelo Honey (or Honey)!! She’s a two year old English cocker and a total sweetheart. On Sunday June 23rd, my husband sold her to a man who resides in Atlanta. Unfortunately, 30 minutes after acquiring her they got home, opened the doors to their vehicle, and called her out without a collar or leash on. She exited their car and took off. She eventually ended up attempting to cross Marietta Blvd and was run over by a vehicle.
After a foot search and online search, the person who got her from the side of the road to the emergency vet was linked up with us. We were able to get to her and hear her injuries. They’re extensive. She is looking at a very long recovery and rehab.

Honey had both hips dislocated and surgically needing repaired. She has a broken right tibia that required a plate and screws to repair. She had a break in her left foot set with a splint. Her left ankle has a large open wound that is down to the bone and a detached ligament. She has a deep wound on the end of her toe. They suspect the large open wound will be needing both a skin graft as well as ligaments reattached to the bone. They became infected and the two antibiotics that are necessary were very specific and uncommon so they had to be sent via currier to the hospital. They also carry the risk of kidney failure so a urine sediment test is needed every 3 days until she’s off of them. She will need both leg splints changed daily under sedation in case the open wounds needs more necrotic tissue cut away. She may need the left leg amputated.
She was moved from Blue Pearl on Wednesday closer to home at the SAVES hospital. She will stay there until Sunday. This is due to needing her bandages and splints done daily under sedation. Then Monday and going forward we can drive her daily to our regular vet for these bandage changes and check ups.
We are working on doing all we can to afford all her bills and future care without asking for help. We hope the other party will help pay. I’m open to any fundraising ideas you may have. So far we have paid 15k (credit card/savings/borrowing/family) and her bills don’t include some of what has already been done or anything going forward. We are proud people so writing this was really hard. Asking for help is hard. I want Honey to want for nothing in her recovery. I am so sorry to even ask for help. It’s so embarrassing. Thanks for reading this far. God bless!
