My dad, James Flores, has always loved cooking for our family. Whether it’s making meals for my brothers and me or hosting big family gatherings, sharing food has always been his love language. One of his favorite things to do was barbecue, so in February 2018, he took a leap and pursued his lifelong dream: opening his own barbecue food truck, Tunu FIXXX. After undergoing spinal fusion surgery, he couldn’t continue his job as an ATM technician, but he decided that this was his chance to make his passion a reality.
Just recently, on October 30, my dad received heartbreaking news. The storage facility where he parks his food truck called to say that his generator had been stolen. It’s sad to think that someone would take from a small, family-owned business, especially one that he’s worked so hard to build. Without a generator, he can’t run Tunu FIXXX, which has put a major strain on us—especially now, as my parents are planning to travel to Guam for my college graduation. As anyone from Guam knows, flights aren’t cheap, and this setback has come at a challenging time.
If you've visited Tunu FIXXX, you know how friendly and welcoming my dad is. He’s passionate about sharing Chamoru cuisine with everyone—bringing a taste of home to those who miss it and introducing it to those who’ve never had it before. Your support would help him get back to what he loves to do: sharing the håfa adai spirit with our community. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us. Si Yu’os ma’åse!
