Despite the challenges she has faced due to her remote location and limited resources, Erdenetungalag has been accepted into Columbia University in New York, a prestigious institution where she dreams of studying Environmental Science or Urban Planning.

Erdenetungalag's Story:

Erdenetungalag grew up in Bayn-Uul, a village where no one has ever had the opportunity to study abroad in the United States. However, this scholarship only covers tuition fees and provides a modest monthly allowance of $200.

For her family, which consists of her mother and two younger sisters, this is an enormous financial burden. Her mother, who works as a teacher, earns less than $100 per month, and selling their only house in Bayn-Uul is their last resort to cover the expenses required for Erdenetungalag's journey, including purchasing a laptop for college.
