A student-led encampment movement for Palestinian liberation has forced the world to reckon with and fight back against the genocide taking place in Palestine, led by and paid for by Israel and the United States. Students have grounded themselves in history by springing up encampments similar to the ones in the 1960s-1980s which demanded an end to the Vietnam War and South African apartheid.
Students in Tucson have played an important role in breaking down the barriers between campus and community, encouraging people to organize for a world free of zionism and settler colonialism. For 3 days, students, faculty, staff and community members camped (and came back each day after being met with police violence), demanding for the University of Arizona to disclose and divest from companies profiting from Israeli genocide. Students continue to be in struggle with others around the world and for this struggle to continue, political education and community building must be prioritized. Please support student organizers at the University of Arizona to attend the Socialism Conference in Chicago from August 30-September 2. They will receive the political education needed to come back to Tucson to build healthy political organizations and movements rooted in community, anti-oppression politics and democracy. Donations will support 15 students pay for housing, airfare, food and registration fees. Learn more about the conference here
