We believe strongly that just because you're allowed to do something doesn't mean you should do something. On July 20th, Philadelphia announced that indoor gyms would be allowed to open.
While “re-opening” is happening for some, we cannot in good conscience do the same for tuck at this time. CDC guidance says that breathing heavily in an enclosed, indoor room is one of the riskiest activities possible. Tuck has always been about our values, health, and wellness, and we would rather lose the business rather than get a single client or teacher sick.
We are coming to terms with the fact that our studios may not come out of this. We likely will not be able to safely open until next year (and it may be the second or third quarter). There is a point in time (that is quickly approaching) where it makes more sense to close our doors than continue to dig deeper into debt with no end in sight.
We resisted doing a fundraiser because frankly, we believe there are far more important causes to give to, that we ourselves have given to even while our business has been closed, but we've heard how much tuck has meant to many of you and many of our beloved clients have expressed a desire to do everything they can to keep tuck alive.
Tuck is easily the best thing we have ever done or been a part of, but its viability as a business is now out of our hands. Our government's response to COVID has been an abject failure at all levels. It's clear that there are ways to safely and effectively deal with a pandemic, but our government has implemented half measures, extending the health and economic suffering for all of us.
Despite all this, we are grateful to be healthy and well. We are breathing, and that is magic. We'll take that as a win for today and we hope you will too. Thank you for all of your support as we do everything we can to bring tuck back to life.
