Support Tuah fight against Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer

Hello Family, friends, the Community, and everyone who's come in view of our sister's GoFundMe. I'm one of Tuah Vang's younger sisters, for those who may not know me. Our family has created this so that in the next days, weeks, and months, our sister will not have to be financially stressed while undergoing her radiation and chemo treatments. Please take your time to read her Cancer Journey and send her prayers. We are all in this fight with her, and in hopes that this can help ease her mind a little. Her cancer has gotten more progressive.

Our sister Tuah, or aka Tuy, was initially diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in March 2009 and unfortunately developed metastatic disease in December 2016. Tuy is currently being treated for metastatic, Stage 4 breast cancer, with metastases to the leptomeninges, lungs, lymph nodes, muscle, and bones, which is ER positive, PR positive, HER2 negative. Tuy has received multiple treatments since diagnosis, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Unfortunately, on Friday, November 15th, 2024, our sister Tuy received some very devastating news about her cancer progress. Her MRI’s and PET Scan show that the Leptomeningeal disease has gradually progressed more in her lower spine (Lumbar L3 & L5) along with new cancer spots. The disease has also spread to her lower left Cerebellar (this is part of the brain that coordinates movement, motor, balance, vision, and eye movement, etc.) and to the frontal parietal region of her left skull, right behind her left eye.

She had a very long discussion with her Oncologist about these new occurrences and both agreed on the route of going towards a more aggressive approach in treatments. Tuy will have to face many challenges. She will also have to miss work due to the severe side effects (fatigue, headaches, nausea, bone pain, diarrhea, neuropathy, and possible hair loss).

Tuy’s new treatment plan consists of radiation in 3 phases and chemotherapy.

Phase 1 will be targeted radiation to the lower lumbar. She will receive 5 treatments in total. Due to the progression, it has caused her a lot of lower back pain and nerve spasms.

Phase 2 will be 1 targeted treatment to the Cerebellum.

Phase 3 will be targeted radiation to the left skull behind her eye. She will receive 5 treatments in total. This is a very challenging spot and may cause other issues in the future, but the Radiologist will do their very best to not damage anything and we can only hope for the best as well.

After radiation, she will begin a new chemotherapy treatment with Trodelvy, given 2x a week for 2 weeks with one week off and will also continue with intrathecal methotrexate chemotherapy given every 2 weeks in an attempt to treat her leptomeningeal disease. In addition, she receives Lupron for ovarian suppression and zoledronic acid for bone support.

But we know Tuy is a fighter! She is strong and inspires us all to live life, have faith, keep a positive attitude, and remain hopeful. She has fought this cancer and disease for almost half of her life, and she hasn’t given up! Let's continue to be her supporters and lessen her stress in any way that we can.
