Hi everyone,
My name is Troy. Just over six years ago, I suffered a spinal stroke that left me paralyzed. At the time, I was living in Massachusetts, attempting to rebuild my life after a difficult divorce. I moved back to my hometown to begin my healing journey, but I've faced numerous health challenges and struggled to navigate state and federal assistance programs. This is a completely new experience for me as I was always gainfully employed.
Previously, I was an entrepreneur with a business dedicated to helping people with their nutrition and fitness. Unfortunately, I lost that business in the divorce. I briefly returned to work, but ongoing health issues led to a series of hospital visits and aftercare, making it difficult to maintain employment. I am currently seeking job opportunities and attending interviews, but with little success so far.
I am receiving disability benefits, but my expenses far exceed my income. It was suggested that I create a GoFundMe campaign to help bridge the gap while I look for gainful employment. At 53 years old, I find myself in a challenging position—too experienced for entry-level jobs, yet struggling to secure a role that matches my expertise.
I am in urgent need of a new wheelchair, but Medicare only covers 80% of the cost. My current living situation is less than ideal and unstable. Wheelchair-accessible housing is incredibly difficult to find on a limited income, but I have finally found a place that meets my accessibility needs. However, I need assistance with the deposit.
As a Human Resource Specialist by trade, I am eager to return to work once I am healed. In the meantime, any financial assistance and compassion you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Warm regards, Troy
