A Letter to the American Hauntings Community
Dear Friends,
For more than three decades, American Hauntings has been built around a simple idea: sharing stories, preserving history, and bringing together a community of people who are passionate about the strange, the mysterious, and the unexplained. None of it would have been possible without your support, friendship, and enthusiasm.
Today, we're reaching out to ask for your help.
This past week (mid-June 2026), author and historian Troy Taylor suffered a series of small strokes that have temporarily sidelined him from many of the activities that support both his family and the American Hauntings organization. As a result, several events, tours, and programs have had to be canceled, leading to a significant loss of income and the difficult task of issuing refunds to guests who have been unable to postpone or reschedule.
Like many independent authors and small business owners, Troy is self-employed. The unexpected interruption of his work, combined with mounting medical expenses and ongoing business obligations, has created challenges that no one could have anticipated.
Thankfully, his recovery is progressing, and he is focused on regaining his strength and returning to the work he loves, but this has been a significant setback.
If American Hauntings, Troy's books, tours, or events have ever inspired, entertained, or educated you, we ask that you consider supporting him during this difficult period. Donations would be the most helpful but purchasing books or getting tickets to an upcoming event would build up your haunted library or add to your ghostly experiences. Even sharing his work with others, or simply keeping him in your thoughts will help -- every gesture of support makes a meaningful difference.
For years, Troy has dedicated himself to preserving haunted history and creating experiences that have connected thousands of people across the country. Now, we're hoping that community can come together to help support him as he focuses on healing and recovery.
Thank you for your kindness, your encouragement, and for being part of the American Hauntings family.
With gratitude,
The American Hauntings Team
