Hello, my name is Stacy, and I am Troy Olson’s sister. Many of you know Troy as a friend, a former coworker, or from the days when he owned T-Roy's mechanic shop.
In March, Troy’s life changed suddenly when the shop he worked for unexpectedly closed, leaving him without a job overnight. Since then, things have only become more challenging as his health has taken center stage. Troy has been dealing with severe knee problems this past year that require a full knee replacement surgery. Still, before doctors could move forward, he had to undergo a cardiac stress test due to ischemia to make sure his heart could handle the operation.
Unfortunately, he failed the stress test, and since then, he has undergone multiple heart scans and imaging at medical facilities in Grand Forks and Roseau. These additional tests have delayed his surgery and added significant medical expenses on top of the financial strain caused by his sudden job loss. Recently, there has been a new development: doctors have identified a lung issue that traces back to complications from spinal meningitis Troy had as a child. This unexpected complication has added more medical testing, uncertainty, and potential treatments to his already overwhelming situation. Additionally, his wife, Cari, recently had surgery as well, creating more medical bills for their household. Now, with their resources exhausted and down to just one income, the financial burden continues to grow while Troy waits for his surgery — and the long recovery that will follow.
Anyone who knows Troy knows that he is not one to ask for help. He has always been the kind of person who gives to others and puts himself last. I grew up with Troy, and as my brother, he played a significant role in taking care of me, my brothers, and our home when we were younger. Our mom was medically homebound and physically hindered, and Troy stepped up in ways most teenagers never have to. That’s the kind of person he is — selfless, strong, and always thinking of others.
Even as a business owner, that giving spirit never changed. During the pandemic, I helped him with his account at T-Roy's, and I saw firsthand how much he sacrificed for others in his community. He often let unpaid bills slide and only charged some families for parts — not labor — just to help them get by during those difficult times. Troy has always shown up for others. Now, he’s the one who needs our support.
We are asking for help to ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward medical bills, household expenses, and essential needs while Troy focuses on his health, surgery, and recovery. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help give Troy the peace of mind he deserves and allow him to focus on healing.
Thank you so much for your kindness, prayers, and support. ❤️
