Support Our Relief Efforts in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica

Dear Family and Friends,

For 24 years, Troy and I have treasured our trips to Jamaica, a beautiful island that holds a special place in our hearts. Troy was born in St. Elizabeth, while my family hails from Manchester, which has deepened our connection to this island. Although we live in New York, and consider this our home, returning to Jamaica feels like coming back home for Troy. For me, it represents a cherished piece of my heart that continues to grow with each visit.

We created this GoFundMe because our hearts are breaking as we witness the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, particularly in St. Elizabeth. We are reaching out for your support because we know from past experience that relief will take months to reach these already poor rural communities like Dry River, New Holland, and Red Hill—communities we cherish that are now in urgent need of assistance. (We have shared a few photos of the impact.)

As many of you are aware, each December, we host a free event that brings a day of joy to many children, families, and seniors in these communities. This gathering, filled with fun, laughter, and togetherness, allows us to offer them free food, drinks, toys, clothing, shoes, and essential supplies. Even more importantly, we share a message of hope. It's a tradition we hold dear, one that strengthens our bonds year after year.

Sadly, this year's event, scheduled for December 20, must be canceled due to extensive damage. Hurricane Melissa has ravaged these beloved communities—destroying homes, electrical outage, wiping out crops, killing livestock, and leaving families without food, shelter, or basic necessities. The very people who have welcomed us with open arms are now facing unimaginable struggles.

The local church, a vital source of comfort and faith, has been severely damaged. The only local store that remained open before and after the storm—providing food and supplies—now needs support to continue serving the residents.

Troy and I recognize that we cannot help everyone, but we are determined to assist as many people as possible in rebuilding and regaining a sense of stability and hope.

Your generous contributions will directly support vital initiatives, including:
• Purchasing roofing and building materials to repair and rebuild damaged homes
• Restoring the local church and elementary school—safe spaces for worship, learning, and community support
• Replacing lost essentials such as bedding, clothing, and household items
• Supporting the local supermarket so it can stay open and continue to serve its communities

We will personally purchase and supervise the distribution of all supplies and materials to ensure that every dollar raised directly benefits these communities and more.

However, if you prefer to contribute to larger organizations currently aiding in broader recovery efforts, please consider these trusted partners:

With your kindness and support, together, we can help rebuild, recover, and inspire a small area of Jamaica to rise once again.

With deepest gratitude,

Troy and Arlean
