On April 6th, 2026, my son Triston experienced a sudden and life-threatening cardiac event. His heart went into ventricular tachycardia and stopped beating. Thanks to his girlfriend’s quick thinking and the responders’ efforts, he received chest compressions until emergency services arrived. Triston’s heart did not restart for nearly 18 minutes, and even after it did, he suffered another cardiac arrest. He spent over 18 minutes without his own heartbeat, and was then placed in a medically induced coma in the ICU for six days. During this time, doctors lowered his body temperature to 94 degrees in an attempt to minimize brain damage.

After being brought out of heavy sedation, Triston is now beginning the long process of recovery. He is starting physical and occupational therapy to relearn basic skills like walking, writing, and regaining control of his motor functions. The journey ahead is daunting, but we are hopeful and determined to support him every step of the way.
