On March 17, a semi truck overturned by mile marker 9 west of Diamond Lake in Southern Oregon, scattering hundreds of bee boxes down the hillside and sending millions of honeybees into a dangerous situation with a grim, uncertain outcome.

Tristen had heard of the event on a scanner app about local accidents and drove up to see what could be done to save the abandoned bees from freezing to death. She returned day after day, working tirelessly with a small team to move the boxes up the steep embankment until she no longer could.

She is now tasked with the care of fostering 5 new colonies, and it would be incredible if we as a community could pull together to help her with the next part: which demands building new hive boxes, equipment, and the duty of creating a suitable home for these new bees she worked so diligently to save.

In addition to being able to house these new bees, she intends to offer educational opportunities to local folks, using these colonies to inform interested people in the process of beekeeping, and provide the keepers that helped with this endeavor with low/no cost.
