Support Trish's Life-Saving Surgery Journey

Hello, my name is Jessica Short. I am raising money for a good friend of our family for medical and medical-related expenses.
This fundraiser is for Patricia “Trish” Dotson. Trish is 42 years of age. She and her family reside in Bean Station, TN. Trish is very close with her 19-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, and her mother and father, Ernestine and Tommy.
Trish suffers from a brain disease known as Moyamoya. Moyamoya is a rare, chronic, and progressive cerebrovascular disease that narrows the carotid arteries in the neck, reducing blood flow to the brain. The reduced blood flow causes multiple strokes. Trish suffered her first stroke on April 18th 2023. She had another in October and was then officially diagnosed with Moyamoya. After the second stroke and the diagnosis, she was admitted to ICU for two weeks. Within this time in ICU, she was stricken with two transient ischemic attacks, also known as “TIA”. This is a stroke-like attack that is a warning sign of a future stroke because they cause temporary artery blockage in the brain.
On March 10th 2025, Trish suffered another stroke and was in ICU for a week. Doctors recommended her to go to Vanderbilt to meet with a specialist to discuss surgery. If she has the surgery, she has a 95% chance for survival and living a normal life again. If she does not have the surgery, the strokes will keep occurring and eventually be fatal. Her and her family had to take a trip to Vanderbilt on March 18th to meet with this specialist. They have to make another trip there on April 18th through 19th to have a brain catheter to check artery damage levels.
Needless to say, every time Trish has a stoke, it causes bodily damage in multiple ways. The surgery is an absolute must for her to get her life back. The Vanderbilt visits of course include gas, hotel stays, food, etc. The surgery itself will be even more expense, along with another hotel stay for her family. This will actually be broken up into two separate procedures, first on the left side of her brain with a 7-day hospitalization time, and then a few weeks later, the right side will be done with another 7-day hospital stay.
Please consider helping Trish and her family during this difficult time. We all want so much to see her get her quality of life back. Thank you so much for reading and for your donation, if you wish to donate! If you are unable to donate, please send prayers up for Trish. Blessings to all.
