Hi everyone,
We are coming together to support Trisha Gillis and her family during an incredibly difficult and unexpected time.
Trisha is a devoted single mom of four children who has always put her family first. After many doctor appointments and months of uncertainty, she advocated tirelessly for her daughter Kaiya, determined to find answers to her troubling symptoms. Eventually, Kaiya was diagnosed with Chiari malformation—a structural condition at the base of the brain where tissue extends into the spinal canal. This can disrupt the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid and put pressure on the brainstem and spinal cord, leading to a range of symptoms from headaches and balance issues to more severe, daily challenges. Many families live with these symptoms for years before finally getting answers.
On February 2, 2026, Kaiya underwent posterior fossa decompression surgery, a complex procedure designed to create more space at the base of her skull and relieve the pressure on her brain and spinal cord. The hope is to restore proper fluid flow and reduce her symptoms, giving her a better quality of life. While the surgery itself was necessary and filled with hope, the recovery has been far more challenging than anyone anticipated. Kaiya has faced setbacks, a longer-than-expected hospital stay, and a slow, difficult rehabilitation process that continues day by day.
Since January 30, 2026, Trisha has not left Kaiya’s side. As a devoted mother, her priority has been making sure Kaiya feels safe, supported, and never alone through every moment of pain, fear, progress, and recovery. Because of this, both Trisha and Kaiya have been unable to work since the surgery, creating unexpected financial strain while they focus on healing.
This fundraiser is to help relieve the burden of everyday living expenses — housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, and the many unseen costs that come with extended medical recovery — so Trisha can continue to be exactly where she is needed most: beside her daughter.
We are hoping to raise $3,000 to help this family stay stable while Kaiya regains strength and works toward recovery. Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide breathing room during a time filled with uncertainty. If you are unable to give, sharing this fundraiser can make just as meaningful of an impact.
Trisha is one of the strongest, most loving mothers, and Kaiya has shown incredible courage through every obstacle placed in front of her. With support, patience, and community, this family can focus on healing instead of worrying about how to make ends meet.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, your shares, and your support. It truly means more than words can express.
