My name is Alexes Williams, and I am raising funds to support my mom as she relocates to Washington, DC to care for my sister, Trinity, during her upcoming bowel transplant journey.
Trinity was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and has been medically fragile her entire life. Over the years, she has endured more than most children her age—hernia repairs, scoliosis that required growing rod treatments, chronic lung disease, and complex gastrointestinal issues. For years, she was tube-fed through a G-tube, but when pseudo and mechanical bowel obstructions developed, she became completely dependent on TPN (IV nutrition). Long-term TPN has taken a toll, causing significant vein damage and early signs of liver disease.
In addition to these medical struggles, Trinity is on the autism spectrum and has limited mobility. She was delayed in learning to walk and now primarily relies on a wheelchair when traveling more than very short distances due to compromised respiratory function and back pain. Despite these challenges, she has continued to face each setback with resilience.
Earlier this year, she was declined for transplant due to high risk. But thanks to the MedStar Georgetown transplant team—the largest bowel transplant program in the U.S.—Trinity has been given another chance. She is now officially approved and listed for a small and large bowel transplant. This surgery is rare, complex, and high-risk, but it represents her only chance for survival and the possibility of a better quality of life.
When the call comes that organs are available, my mom will need to relocate with Trinity to Washington, DC for at least a year. This means leaving behind her home, her job, and her income in order to provide Trinity with the constant care and support she will need before, during, and after transplant.
The funds raised here will go directly to my mom to cover relocation costs, living expenses, and lost wages while she is in DC caring for Trinity. With your support, my mom can focus fully on Trinity’s recovery without the added burden of financial stress.
We are deeply grateful for any help—whether through donations or by sharing this campaign. Thank you for standing beside our family during this critical time.
