Hello Friends & Family,

Dear Friends of Tricia and her Breast Cancer Journey,

We have not updated her status in a while as Tricia has had a recent setback with her treatment in September through current. During her chemotherapy treatment, the cancer team also administered an Immune Boosting drug in her case she was administered the popular drug Keytruda. With any type of drug treatments there are risks as minimal to severe side effects. During the 11-month Keytruda treatments Tricia experienced muscle pain, unexplained tiredness and weakness but was still able to manage. Through this she continued to work and go on with her life. In September she had her last Keytruda treatment and within 24 hours, her legs seemed to give out on her along with experiencing a variety of other symptoms, slurred speech, confusion. 4 trips to the Emergency she was finally admitted to the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital for severe Hypercalcemia which she had developed dangerous high levels of calcium. The Keytruda does prevent cancer from returning, but also in her case her organs were attacked such as kidneys & Pituitary Gland & caused inflammation throughout her entire body breaking down her muscle mass. She was released from the hospital a week ago and now is in physical therapy to rebuild the muscle mass along with receiving other treatment. Due to the debilitating side effects, Tricia cannot work at her waitress job at Pinocchio’s. She has since applied for Disability, which takes at least six months to be approved. We don’t know currently, if these side effects are temporary or permanent. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers – she has had a very rough year and could use some positive vibes. Hope all of you are doing well and thankful to all of you during this Thanksgiving time. Any donations will be used for everyday living expenses; such as groceries, rent, transportation to and from physical therapy and doctor’s appointments.

A current update about Tricia's Cancer journey. She is embarking on her fourth out of 12 Chemo treatments tomorrow. The side effects are starting to really increase to include sores in her mouth, fatigue, eyesight being affected and the worst of all her hair has begun to fall out. With all of this, Tricia is still maintaining her wit and sense of humor and most importantly has been reunited with her beautiful 3 1/2 year old Grandaughter who has provided a deep sense of hope, love and gratitude. Thank you all for your continued support, donations and love. Special thanks to Tricia's Cancer Team at Crozier Cancer Center who have been amazing!

Update on our Fundraising. We had a fantastic couple of days thanks to all of you and Tricia and her family would like to extend a big Thank you. We will continue to keep you updated on her progress.

Three weeks ago, our beautiful sister Tricia Gieder Simpson, beloved mother to Robert and Andrew, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. As you can imagine, her life turned upside down overnight. This is an aggressive, fast-spreading cancer and treatment needs to be of an urgent nature. Immediately following the diagnosis, Tricia met with her cancer team at Crozier Chester and discussed what to expect with the treatment plan, which includes 12 weeks of chemotherapy starting on October 15th, followed by surgery, radiation, and another four weeks of intense chemotherapy. The last three weeks have been filled with biopsies, ports, scans, and more scans. Tricia does have insurance; however, she has a $7,500 out-of-pocket deductible. Every time she goes to an appointment, she is expected to pay the deductible, which is why we are starting a GoFundMe page to help defray the cost of these mounting medical expenses. Her ability to earn income will be limited as well. Over the next few months, Tricia will only be able to work part-time as a waitress at her wonderful place of employment, Pinocchio’s in Media, who have been so caring and generous during this time. We appreciate any assistance that you can provide during the difficult journey that Tricia is facing. Please keep Tricia in your prayers. We will provide periodic updates on her treatment. God Bless!
