Hi friends! A lot of you have been following Trey's journey for the last 4 weeks and I can not thank you enough. If you haven't, here's a little backstory on his journey. On February 19th, I went with Trey to a doctors appointment that ended in him being sent to the ER. His oxygen levels were in the low 60's and he had shortness of breath. He was admitted to the hospital later that night and put on oxygen. The oxygen was not sufficient and by the next day he was placed in the ICU and put on a ventilator. He stayed on the ventilator for about 2-3 days. His oxygen was not improving and he was in distress. I was then faced with the only option available. He needed to go on an ECMO machine (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), which basically acts as a lung bypass. This was it. There was nothing else they could do for him if the ECMO did not work. At the time, they weren't even sure what caused this trauma to his lungs. He was eventually diagnosed with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). He had so much stacked against him and there were times we were not sure he'd make it. About a week ago he started making a turn for the better. They were able to remove his mouth tube and put in a trach and move the cannulas in his leg to his neck. This allowed the nurses to start sitting him up gradually. From that point he has made a lot of progress. Even with all this progress he is still in pretty rough shape and will require speech, physical, occupational and respiratory therapy. There is no timeline for how long it will take him to recover. Could be months or could be over a year. There's really no way to know.

While he is improving, he is also out of work and we do not know what the future holds. There are also a lot of things that will need to be put into place for his eventual return home. I'm not one to easily ask for help, but I know that I can't do this alone. If you are able to donate, that is great. If not, sharing is just as important and appreciated. Thank you for following Trey's journey and your support. If you know Trey, you love him. He's an amazing man and has a lot of fight in him. ❤️
