Hi, my name is Trey Cunningham. For the last 3 months I've been dealing with two bulged disks in my back that has completely changed my everyday life. It all started when I was at my parents house. I had slipped down their stairs and hit my back really hard as I went down. In the moment, I just got back up and didn't think much about it. I knew I was hurt, but didn't realize the severity of it until months later. So I continued my normal routines and even went snowboarding the next day. BIG MISTAKE. I was so sore before we left and after I clearly made the situation worse. I thought I just had a deep bruise. I mean I fell down stairs, of course I'd be hurt. For the next couple of weeks I took it easy. Mostly having to sit in bed and I could only walk for around 10-15 minutes without my back hurting so bad I almost would pass out from the pain. It slowly started radiating down my leg and into my toes and my whole right side of my body would feel like pins and needles. I decided I needed Chiropractic help and started going twice a week to "The Joint" in West Jordan. At my first appointment I was told that most likely my sciatica was jacked up and I needed to just get it moved with adjustments. After about two-three weeks in, I was in the worst pain I had ever been in. I called my parents crying in pain telling them I think I needed to go to the emergency room because I can't keep living like this. It doesn't feel like living at all. I can't get a job because I can't stand for too long, I can't go out with friends unless I know I'll be able to lay on my stomach or can sit down and relax my back. After discussing, my brother told me I should try acupuncture and offered to pay for me to get it down. I agreed to try it before going to the hospital and called around to different offices. To my luck, Rosquist Chiropractic and Acupuncture told me I could come in immediately and he'd squeeze me in. At the appointment he did a consultation consisting of testing my reflexes and seeing if I could resist him pushing and pulling on my right foot/leg. I had muscle deterioration and he determined I had a bulged disk but needed me to get an MRI to fully be sure that it wasn't also fractured or something else entirely. He helped me schedule the MRI for a later date and in the mean time I'd start compression therapy to help stretch my back and hopefully be able to slip the bulge back into place. After a couple of weeks, I got my MRI on March 25. The MRI revealed what we already expected, but instead of the one bulge disk, I had two in my lower lumbar area of my back. One so bad, it was completely pinched off. These bulges are attacking my sciatica (the longest nerve in you body) and that is why I was having a hard time walking/standing. I am continuously going through treatments still and having little to no luck with relief. Our next step will be getting and Epidural Steroid Injection to help shrink the disks to hopefully help it slip back in and help me return to normal life. The reason I'm starting this gofundme is to help me pay my monthly bills (medical, rent, loans, groceries, etc) as I have been unable to find a job that I could do with this pain. It's agonizing. I've applied to countless online positions and also recently started the course to get my Life Insurance License so I can begin selling and hopefully start making an income again. Until then, I'm raising money to help me be able to afford bills that I need to pay. Any donation is appreciated and I am so grateful for all who are willing to help. It's been mentally and physically exhausting as a 22 year old dealing with this pain for three months now. Honestly it would be exhausting for anyone. I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy. Luckily I have hope that with treatments and the injection that I soon will be able to return to normal, everyday life while avoiding surgery.
