They say "go where the wind takes you"... Trevor Henderson no longer recommends this course of action.

He was working at a job site on April 1 when extreme winds and severe weather knocked him off a 22-foot roof. He was thrown off the roof and slammed onto the top of his work van parked below. He suffered severe injuries and was taken to Medical City of Denton, where he had surgery to repair his broken hip and shattered elbow. He has a rod and 4 screws in his right hip and 4 plates and too many screws to count holding his right elbow together. He is home now and unable to walk, sit, or stand on his own. He must use a walker to try to get around, which is extremely difficult since he cannot bear any weight on the right side of his body.

Now that he is home, his wife, Karen, is the only person available to help care for him, and she is disabled and in bad health herself. Rehab and physical therapy were recommended but are unobtainable at this time due to their financial situation. The doctors are estimating at least 3 months before he is able to walk without a walker or use a wheelchair, and 6-12 months before he regains the use of his arm. Even then, it will take several more months before he is back to functioning normally.

Due to the nature of his injuries, the person he was working for has since let him go. He is an independent contractor and will be physically unable to work for at least 6 months. This means that he no longer has any income or health insurance to cover medical costs and follow-up appointments. The lack of income itself is devastating, but the loss of their health insurance is detrimental to both of their lives.

Please consider donating to help Trevor and Karen be successful in his recovery. Any donation is helpful and will go towards their living expenses and many medical costs. They have lessened their day-to-day expenses as much as possible at this time but will still need help to cover even the most basic of needs. Any amount is helpful, and they definitely do not discount the power of prayer as well. However God lays it on your heart to help them, they will be deeply appreciative and forever grateful.
