Support Trevin's Bone Marrow Transplant Journey

Donation protected

Trevin has been battling with a blood disorder for the past 6 years. We are yet to find a reason why but have just undergone extensive genetic testing on himself and both myself and his dad.

It’s finally come to the time where he is almost in full bone marrow failure.

Our first visit with the transplant team is scheduled for June 20th.

All three of Trevin’s brothers are complete matches, so he does have a higher chance of success.

But he has a long road ahead of him.

He will be having chemo to clear out all the marrow he might have left and wipe it out before the transplant occurs.

Trevin will be in the hospital for 6 weeks to 3 months, depending on his recovery.

Yes, this means we will be with him.

These funds will be used to supplement the parents' income while their income is lost, as well as a little bit extra for Trevin while he is in the hospital. He will be out of school for a year so we would like to by him a lot of learning games, mad libs and things of that nature to occupy him during this time.

6/6: update: So we finally found what Trev has. In lamins terms it’s Short Telomere syndrome and is a genetic mutation.

info: Short telomere syndromes (STSs) are a group of disorders that cause accelerated aging and are often caused by inherited gene mutations. These syndromes are characterized by abnormally short telomeres, which are the protective ends of chromosomes. When telomeres are too short, cells can't divide effectively.

This can be made worse by drinking, smoking, and numerous other activities that attack the body. It can also cause Immune System disorders such as Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Psoriasis, etc...

Short telomere syndromes can also result in organ failures of different types.

6/20 update: Had Trevin’s appointment today with the bone marrow transplant team.

We are waiting for more test results to come back on his brothers before scheduling but should be moving forward in 4-6 weeks with the transplant.
we need to be sure the boys don’t have the same genetic issue cause then they are not able to be a donor. Keeps yours fingers crossed and pray in anyway you do that non of our other boys carries this DNA stand and can be donors to Trev. It’s his best chance of survival.

Update 7/9: looks like transplant will be beginning of August if Tyler decides to be the donor or into early fall if we have to use a stranger donor.

We will be setting up an appointment for Tyler so he can meet with that team and that way he can make an informed decision. Tyler is pretty nervous himself so let’s show him some love and support too today!
