In March 2024, our dear friend, Trent Schneeberger, was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Since then, he has faced an incredibly tough journey with so much strength and positivity.
From May through October 2024, Trent completed 16 weeks of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation. He has continued to undergo countless tests and smaller procedures from January to July of this year. Following the chemo/radiation it was believed that the cancer was gone. When the remaining portion of the tumor was being removed, a polyp was discovered underneath and later removed as well. While the original tumor is gone, doctors recently found precancerous cells in the rectal tissue. To remove those cells and prevent the cancer from returning, Trent will undergo a multistage surgery.
The first surgery will be on September 19th, where he’ll have a J-loop procedure and receive a temporary ileostomy. About eight weeks later, he will have a second surgery to reverse it once his body has healed. These surgeries will be a difficult recovery process, both physically and emotionally.
Throughout treatment, Trent has had many days of exhaustion, pain, and emotional burnout. And yet, he continues to remain positive and hopeful, always putting others before himself. Since losing his wife in 2015, he has raised his four children with endless love and care, giving so much of himself to everyone around him. He continued to work as much as he could during his treatment to provide for his family, however with these surgeries that won’t be possible.
We are asking for support in any way you feel able to give, whether it’s providing a meal, contributing toward groceries or medical bills, sending words of encouragement, or simply keeping him in your prayers. Every act of kindness, big or small, will help lift some of the weight off his shoulders and allow him to focus on healing.
Trent is the most loving, kindhearted, and upbeat person, and we want him to feel surrounded by the same care he has always given others. Thank you for standing with him during this difficult time.
