Trena Payne has spent her life caring for others as a registered nurse, beginning her career in Michigan, then working in Florida, returning to Michigan, and finally settling in Tennessee to be closer to family and continue her work in the operating room. She’s the kind of person who always puts her patients first, offering comfort and strength to those in need. Now, Trena is facing her own battle—she’s been diagnosed with triple negative lobular carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.
To receive the best possible care, Trena travels from Tennessee to MD Anderson for treatment. Each week, she faces not only the physical and emotional toll of cancer, but also the financial burden: the costs of treatment, travel, lodging, and daily living. Despite all of this, Trena is still working full time, determined to support her family—her husband Matt and their children Gavin, Landon, Lauren, and Adriane—and maintain a sense of normalcy for those she loves.
This fundraiser is a chance for us to give back to someone who has given so much. Your support will help cover the costs of her treatments, travel, and living expenses, easing the burden so Trena can focus on healing. Cancer picked the wrong nurse. Let’s show her that when one of ours is down, an entire community rises. Every donation is more than a dollar—it’s a stand beside a nurse who has spent her life standing beside others. Together, we can turn compassion into hope, and hope into healing.
