Hi there, my name is Kim, I have been a lifelong friend to Treasure, and due to an infection gone to the worst extremes. I feel like we, as a community of friends may be able to give her a hand, as I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and friends and family helped me to keep my home and car and get through til I could work again.
so … here’s the scenario :
In November, Treasure began experiencing severe pain in her groin area and the smallest tasks made her super tired and going to bed as early as 5:30. For three days in a row she went to the local ER in Lake Geneva, WI, and had two minor procedures in the groin area while there. But on the third visit she was sent to an ICU in Rockford, IL. There, she underwent aggressive treatment, including heavy antibiotics delivered directly through a central line in her neck. She had developed sepsis.
Two days later, with worsening pain another CT scan revealed an infection had spread dangerously fast and was causing necrosis inside her body killing the tissue as it moved. Emergency surgery was performed to find and remove the infection. The next day the surgeons were very clear that she would not had survived if that surgery was not performed that previous night, but she was left with a large open wound in an extremely sensitive area. The open wound is the size of two adult hands and requires frequent dressing changes throughout the day and night, causing significant pain and mobility challenges.
Treasure spent two weeks in the hospital on IV antibiotics.
The constant stress and pain on the body has also made her blood sugar become uncontrollable which hinders wound healing. She now has to take two insulin’s 4 times a day.
Treasure is now receiving care from home health nurses several times a week, with specialists still considering different plans to help heal the wound faster. The open wound is located in an area that requires extra care to prevent infection during routine hygiene practices such as going to the washroom.
However, traveling to appointments in Rockford is difficult, and she is awaiting a referral to a closer wound care facility in Wisconsin.
Due to her condition, Treasure has been unable to work all of December and likely won't return until February. Having started her new job in April, she didn’t have much paid time off earned yet, and her mother has been helping with medications and supplies costs. However, rent, utility bills, and mounting medical expenses—including hospital stays, surgeries, specialists, and medications—continue to grow.
As the new year begins, her insurance deductible will reset, adding to the financial burden. As most of you know Treasure spends most of her free time helping raising money for the community, hopefully we can help Treasure to help cover some of these expenses during this difficult recovery period.
Any contribution, no matter how small, would be appreciated. If you cannot, good Karma sent her way would also be appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Wishing you safe and happy holidays.

UPDATE ON
TREASURE’S RECOVERY 1/8/25
(will also post in Comment Section)
Today- Holly took Treasure to her new doctor …. (And Grabbed a yummy lunch on the way home)
so, here’s how our girl is doin’ ….
Every day, Treasure gets stronger, but she still can't sit for long periods without pain. Nights still continue to be the hardest. She gets very dizzy when walking because her blood pressure can run very low at times, which has been an ongoing issue.
Today (1/8/25)
she visited a new wound doctor closer to home to make care more convenient. Her wound is healing nicely, though very slowly. However, the wound is uneven, which will prevent it from closing perfectly. Plastic surgery might be an option in the future if Treasure decides to have it corrected.
The normal procedures typically used for wounds of this size, which could speed up healing, cannot be done due to the wound's location. As a result, Treasure must continue her own wound care using a slower method, several times a day. Currently, she is looking at returning to work in February but will have another checkup at the end of January to confirm whether it's safe to do so.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, thank you for everyone who has shared and thank you for any and all support
It’s all appreciated more than you know .
