Support Travis's Recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury

First and foremost, thank you to anyone who has clicked to take the time to read. I’m Travis’s wife, Nikki. Travis suffered a traumatic brain injury on September 6th, 2024. After he fainted and fell six feet, he cracked the back of his skull on concrete. It has been the most traumatic experience since our marriage 16 years ago, and our little family’s world has been turned upside down since. Unfortunately, with a TBI, the healing process is unpredictable and healing moves at snail speed. We have two boys, Cruise (14) & Ryker (10), who have been worried and scared for their dad’s health, injury, and further complications. Anyone who has had the pleasure of befriending Travis or meeting him will tell you that he is a wonderful guy with a heart of gold, loves his family and friends, has witty humor, and his joyful spirit is contagious. Travis is also a great dad who loves being a father and providing for his family. He also enjoys working, doing something he loves by helping his community succeed within their business, and being able to socialize and interact with his clients. Since the injury, Travis hasn’t been able to be himself at full capacity, which has affected all that he loves. Travis can be overwhelmed and easily triggered into a panic PTSD episode. He has had extensive hospital and doctor appointments over the past few months, and there will be many more in the future.
So far, they have discovered Travis has mitral and pulmonic regurgitation that caused him to have dizzy spells and ultimately made him faint. He suffered from a laceration and severe concussion. This has wreaked havoc with loss of memory and normal day-to-day functioning. Travis was involved in a bad car accident back in his youth, which resulted in a TBI as well, and this injury has not helped. There are future neurological, cardiovascular, and general appointments plus testing, and possible surgery, to get him healthy again.
Currently, he has exhausted all FMLA and is on leave without pay from work. He has access to short-term disability, but it has been daunting to keep them continuing his insurance pay, and we are currently appealing the rejection even though they discontinued his insurance pay before having his first cardiology or neurology appointment. Without disability insurance, he still owes over $10,000 in medical bills after what his medical insurance paid.
Again, we thank you for taking time to read about Travis and our current situation. More than anything, we ask for prayers for a full recovery, loving thoughts, and a wish that we get the Travis we know back on his feet! Any other blessings make you an absolute Godsend. We love you all. ❤️
