Travis stearns was taken to omaha to UNMC emergently from north platte great plains health on October 4th. He currently suffers with chronic pancreatitis which progressive. He also suffers from severe type 3 diabetes. Travis has been unable to keep down food and liquid and has lost over 80 pounds in a short period of time. His pancreatic team has proposed putting in a feeding tube to allow Travis's stomach to rest by putting the tube in his abdomen it will alow for his tummy to rest by bypassing the pancreas. The tentative plan is for the g-tube surgery to be be on Monday. I am Travis fiance and I had to drive to omaha to bring Travis cpap and be here for him while he has surgery and recieve training with him on the new feeding tube and they are unable to give us a timeline of how long he will have to be here in omaha we just have to take one day at a time. We are both on a fixed income due to myself having multiple health issues of lupus, sjogrens, addisons disease, POTS, and congestive heart failure. During this stay we are asking for help with fuel because omaha is about 5 hours away from home, cost of food and possibly a motel room. Like I said we do not know how long we will be here and he will require more trips as we also need to be trained on his new insulin pump and the feeding tube will require continued care along with his stent that has to be replaced in his pancreas every 3 to 4 months. We have had poor care on the west side of the state so UNMC has been our only savior! So he currently has a endocrinologist, pancreatic surgeon, cardiologist and gastrointerologist on his team of doctors and these are all doctors here in omaha he will continue care as he has been in the past. We have made alot of trips back and forth to omaha for both our care and we will have to make more trips for continued care so anything helps even if it is just prayers and we appreciate each and everyone who has been praying!
