Supporting Travis Davis’ family
Donation protected
Travis was a great guy with a great smile and very short on words. He only said what needed to be said and never much more. He worked for the Town of Rockland for just under 2 years and part of AFSCME local 750-2. At the Town of Rockland, we really enjoyed having him around and he would always do what was asked without ever asking why. He loved his "shitbox" Nissan Juke and just bought a brand-new car and was ready to throw all the "mods" at it. He was a regular at the gym and tried with all his might to lose ALL his body fat, except when the gas station had brownies. Travis also had a love of going out on his motorcycle. He would come to work every day and go about his day taking his supplements and having a good old time with the guys.
Travis' life sadly came to an abrupt halt. A motorist who pulled out in front of him claimed his life while riding his motorcycle just one day before starting his 2-week vacation.
The Davis family was left devastated and his friends equally as much. Travis' 31 years of life came to a sudden stop because of someone else's negligence. This is where his parents need our help.
Travis' mother Tami is in the process of trying to get the NYS Grieving Families Act passed in Governor Hochul's office. The Grieving Families Act allows families to go after someone for careless and negligent actions. The current NYS law which is over 180 years old only allows for a family to go after economic losses, and not emotional grief and anguish.
New Yorkers are clueless of this law until it actually happens to them and when it unfortunately happens, there is nowhere to look to. Travis' family is trying to get this law pushed to Governor Kathy Hochul's office and signed so that no other New Yorker has to suffer from someone else's negligence.
Donations are greatly appreciated, thank you everyone.
There is also a petition that anyone is free to sign if they are willing to support the change in the grieving families act. The link provided below will send you to the active petition. Thank you.
