Support disabled freelancer to recover from severe COVID
Donation protected
My name is Elly and I'm a multiply-disabled freelance journalist and community organizer (among other hats I occasionally wear). In the beginning of April, I was suddenly hit with a bad case of COVID that has landed me in and out of the ER, despite taking extensive precautions.
I am still very symptomatic (extreme fatigue, headaches, brain fog, congestion and cough, stomach issues, pain, extremely high heart rates from little exertion, breathing issues, etc.) requiring much rest weeks later. I'm unable to work until I get better, which as a freelancer means I have stopped making any money. I still have yet to regain the ability to leave my apartment building. Given how slowly my recovery is going, I do not know when I will be well enough to work again – which is why I’m hoping to raise enough to cover 2 months of basic living expenses.
I need help covering rent, bills, groceries, and meds while I recover. I have gone out of my way the last five years to avoid getting this sick by taking as many precautions as possible but unfortunately, here we are. It is very scary not knowing how long it will take me to recover and how my already difficult health struggles will be impacted. Anything you can give, including small donations, truly helps, as does sharing and boosting this fundraiser with a hyperlink included.
