What is WATCHDOG ??
A new musical psycho-thriller written by Murphy Taylor Smith and Emerson Mae Smith, and directed by Mack Brown.
Two identical women, unrelated and previously unknown to each other, meet by chance. Swiftly, NAOMI, a hypochondriac trans girl coder, moves into a decadent Bushwick loft owned by SASZA, a magnetic and volatile cis e-girl with a swath of devoted male followers. As the doppelgängers push and prod at the boundaries of their individual identities, cross contamination threatens to turn completion into codependency and the loss of selfhood. It’s a razor sharp black comedy with a completely original alternative score.
Think "Single White Female" meets "Persona", if it was scored by Fiona Apple.
What are we raising money for?
"ANT Fest is [Ars Nova's] annual festival of All New Talent showcasing new work from New York’s most adventurous emerging artists. Every summer, Ars Nova throws open our doors to the next wave of pioneering theater, comedy, music and hybrid theater-makers who fill our stage with their most dynamic ideas."
We are finally putting WATCHDOG up on its feet with costumes, music, special effects, after two years of writing and revising. If you know anything about the show, or anything about the people working on it, you know that it needs to make it into the zeitgeist. And you can help us!
We are trans independent theater makers and we are grass roots funding this project. $2000 would mean we can pay for our rehearsal spaces, our projections and recordings, our designers, our crew and our musicians, without the production team paying out of their own pocket. Any amount of money could make a huge difference!
If you can't donate today, please share! With your lovers, your enemies. That one guy who you see sometimes at the cafe and you think he's maybe rich (and maybe a chaser too, that helps).
Thank you thank you thank you! WOOF!
