Support Training for Our Local Animal Heroes
Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Dixon and I am a special education teacher here in Jefferson County. I want to start this fundraiser on behalf of our local Jefferson County WV Animal Control Officers. Our county officers work day in and day out helping our local pets and livestock-even when they are off duty, they are still assisting with rescue and recovery. In order for our officers to continue to do their jobs, they need training to keep them the best of the best. A well trained officer is better equipped for any and all situations that can arise on a call. These trainings are very expensive (some almost $1,000 a person) and they are even trying to pay for these trainings out of their own pockets because there simply is no funding. On their own, these officers have organized a new procedure for our agriculture communities to tag and identify their livestock for quicker reunification of a loose animal. These officers not only make every effort to find the original homes of lost pets picked up, they also try to find new home for the lost, forgotten and left behind. All of our officers are animal lovers and owners themselves. I am simply asking for your help in "adopting" an officer to help with training and animal expenditures to help our Jefferson County office be the best that it can be. There is nothing worse than the feeling of a lost pet, or livestock. I know I personally feel better knowing I have officers that are fully trained above and beyond for that event which at times can be dangerous and physically demanding. Every penny donated goes directly to the officers. Thank you for your time!
