Tracie is not only a longtime special friend to me, helping to navigate the challenges of addiction in my own stepdaughter, but she touches so many people through her work with her light and stories of resilience and addiction recovery. Tracie is a youth recovery coach and prevention specialist at UAB. She began her new position just before being diagnosed with invasive cancer in April 2025. Since then, she has faced multiple surgeries and, with incredible determination, recently returned to work. But last week, Tracie collapsed and required emergency back surgery to repair severe nerve damage that nearly left her paralyzed. Guided by faith and the skilled hands of her surgeon, she is now home, facing another long and uncertain recovery.
Tracie has always been a source of hope and support for others. As her lifelong friend, I’ve seen her overcome the struggles of youth and relationships with humility and honesty. Even during her own “not so beautiful years,” Tracie’s compassion and faith have never wavered. She knows firsthand the pain of addiction and uses her experience to help others find their way, always guided by her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering faith.
Now, Tracie needs our help. She just caught up on overdue bills and house payments for the home she purchased before her diagnosis, but with weeks of recovery ahead and no income, she faces financial stress once again. Your support will help Tracie stay afloat during this difficult time, allowing her to focus on healing.
