Support Alicia (Tracey) Kirton Fight Breast Cancer and Rebuild Her Life After Heartbreaking Loss

My name is Sorena Linton, and I'm reaching out to you during one of the most challenging times of my dear friend’s life. I never imagined I'd be writing these words, but sometimes life takes turns we never see coming.

On July 9, 2025, Tracey Alicia received news that changed everything: "You have breast cancer." In that moment, her world shifted completely: the fear, the uncertainty, the overwhelming realization that she was facing the fight of her life hit her all at once.

But as difficult as that diagnosis was, what happened next has been even more heartbreaking. Just days after learning about her cancer, and despite her managers knowing about her cancer diagnosis, she was laid off as part of organizational cuts. She worked in a prestigious university for 28 years, yet due to the structure of her employment, is left without pension protections or continuing health benefits. Her health insurance will end on October 31, 2025, days after her bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. She simply cannot afford COBRA coverage, and she is terrified about how she'll manage her follow-up care and recovery. Because of the severity of her condition and the long recovery process, she is unable to work or seek employment. Every ounce of energy is spent fighting this disease and trying to hold onto hope.

The weight of medical bills, daily living expenses, and the uncertainty of tomorrow has been overwhelming. Yet, what hurts her the most is the fear of losing stability while she fights to stay alive. She’s preparing for major surgery followed by months of recovery, all while trying to figure out how to survive without income, health insurance, or a secure place to live. The emotional weight of these losses is almost unbearable, but she’s determined to fight not just for her health, but for her future.

We humbly ask for your compassion and support as she faces these overwhelming challenges; your kindness can make an unimaginable difference in her fight. Thank you for taking the time to read her story. Thank you for caring about someone you may have never met. Your kindness isn't just a gift; it's hope during one of the darkest chapters of her life. It's a reminder that even when the people closest to us walk away, there are still good, compassionate people in this world. If you're not able to donate right now, we understand and ask for your prayers, encouraging words, and sharing of her story with others who might be able to help. It would mean the world to her.

Tracey Alicia says, “I believe that together, we can get through anything. Thank you for being part of my journey toward healing and hope.”

With love and gratitude, Sorena Linton for Alicia (Tracey) Kirton
