A Journey No Family Is Ever Prepared For
In April 2025—just four months after starting a new job—Toye heard words no one is ever ready to receive: “You have Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), CANCER “What was meant to be a fresh start for him and his family instantly became the beginning of the hardest battle of their lives.
Since that devastating diagnosis, Toye has fought with remarkable courage. His days have been filled with intensive chemotherapy, countless blood and platelet transfusions, and repeated hospitalizations for serious complications—including life-threatening viral infections and even a stroke. Through it all, his medical team remains hopeful, and our entire family is praying that his body continues to respond to treatment so he can move toward a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.
Toye was initially scheduled to participate in a clinical trial at Johns Hopkins—a critical step in his treatment journey. Tragically, the trial was canceled after several participants lost their lives. While devastating, this setback did not end his fight. His care team has since determined that he must return to Johns Hopkins for further specialized treatment, which will require a temporary relocation to Maryland for an extended period of time.
This journey toward healing has brought immense emotional, physical, and financial strain.
Although Toye’s employer graciously approved remote work so he could maintain his job—and the health insurance that quite literally sustains his life—his condition has made consistent work nearly impossible. The hospital has become a second home, with days filled by appointments, procedures, unexpected admissions, and exhaustion that only those battling AML can truly understand.
His wife, Camille, has stepped into the role of full-time caregiver. She drives him to every appointment, sits faithfully at his bedside during hospital stays, manages his medications, and prays over him daily. Because of the intensity of his care, she has also been unable to work.
Now, in addition to ongoing medical and household expenses, the family must prepare for the financial strain of relocating to Maryland—covering housing, transportation, meals, and daily living costs—while Toye continues receiving specialized treatment at Johns Hopkins.
This is a family that has always worked hard and taken pride in caring for themselves. Today, they are facing overwhelming financial hardship and urgently need help covering:
• Rent
• Car payments
• Utilities and household bills
Despite their faith, strength, and determination, the weight of this season has become more than they can manage alone.
We are coming together as family, friends, coworkers, and a community of faith to lift them up during this incredibly difficult time. Your support will help them:
• Maintain stable housing during treatment
• Keep reliable transportation for critical hospital visits
• Cover essential bills while they focus fully on healing
• Ease financial stress so they can preserve their strength for the fight ahead
Any contribution—no matter the amount—makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing their story and keeping them in your prayers. This fight is long, but with the love and support of their village, they do not have to face it alone.
Doctors are working tirelessly to prepare Toye for a bone marrow transplant—the treatment that could save his life. We are believing God for complete healing, stable counts, and renewed strength for the journey ahead.
Your generosity brings this family one step closer to hope.
From the bottom of our hearts,
thank you for standing with them.
