My name is Amy, and I keep non-releasable groundhogs. My Tot has been through a lot this past year. He had an emergency surgery to save his life from a bad infection due to a suture reaction from his neuter surgery. He lost his brother, Gouda, and ended up with the same GI infection that took Gouda. He’s had a few setbacks with the GI infection recurring. At this point, it’s most likely a case of inflammation (colitis) caused by dysbiosis. This is a fancy way of saying he needs his gut flora restored. I’d like to raise some funds to get him to the vet hospital where they can closely monitor the whole process. To do this right, he should be in clinic and off antibiotics. He’ll need transfaunation with feces from a healthy groundhog. Think of it as a fecal transplant in humans with Clostridium difficile infections. Unfortunately, I can’t risk him being off antibiotics and doing this at home in case he crashes. I’ve spent so much of my savings already that I can’t do it on my own. Tot is a beloved groundhog on Instagram, and I’d like to keep it that way. He could really use your help to make a full return to health and get off antibiotics for good! To all who donated to his initial surgery, I appreciate you more than I could ever express. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
